Elise's birthday party is in only 5 days... as soon as I thought I had every detail set and every special touch that I was hoping for the forecast is announced- RAIN! Damn!
Living in Southern California we don't get much rain. In fact, you could probably plan an outdoor soiree 355 days out of the year and it would be marvelous. So far it looks like I planned a great party on one of the few crummy days. Go figure! It was the same way for our beautiful outdoor garden wedding 3 years ago, I guess I should know better.
I am keeping the faith though. I am pushing ahead and finishing up all of the last minute touches and I have a Plan A and a Plan B, both of which should produce a wonderful party.
We have serious ladybug fever in this house! There are ladybugs EVERYWHERE! Brian finally gave me a little grief and said that I may have gone overboard and wanted to know when I was planning on springing him the bad news that he will be dressed up as a ladybug. Oh silly husband, I hadn't even thought of that! But.....it turns out that we will be having hundreds of extra guests, ALL dressed up as ladybugs! That's right, we went to OSH this weekend to get a few things for the yard and saw that they have live ladybugs for your garden. They keep them in a small plastic container in the fridge (so they sleep) and you take them home and at night you open the container at the base of your plants and flowers and leave it there. When they wake up they cruise around the flowers and love life in your garden! How awesome is that!!! The kids will love that there are tons of REAL ladybugs at the party! (Disclaimer: They are alive, healthy and well taken care of. They are actually good for your garden and thrive in this atmosphere!)
I guess it's back to praying that there is no rain because I'm not sure what ladybugs do in the rain.
Please. Please. Please!
Back to stalking the weather channel and hoping I don't have to squeeze 40 people in my living room!
